KORI ARTS was
formed in 2002 in Hornsey in the Borough of Haringey. This
diverse programme of arts is focused on advancing the skills
and experience of
young people to standards that bring real enrichment to their
futures.
All our workshops are delivered by professional artists and
project leaders, who are experienced and committed to the
personal development of the young people they work with.
We explore world subjects through the arts and work towards
the young people gaining an understanding of diverse historical
and current issues, empowering
them with a global vision. We have found that young people
can benefit tremendously from exposure to the expressive arts.
they grow in confidence and purpose. Topics allow for their
thought process to develop and sharing their thought provoking
exhibitions and performances within the community allows them
to gain
a true sense of being useful and purposeful citizens.
Our young people also gain many opportunities for self –
development through training, teaching and performing and
presenting experiences.
Art forms explored through multi-arts sessions so far are:
Animation, Drama, Gospel singing, African Martial Arts, Ceramics,
Woodwork, storytelling skills, African
Drumming, Poetic writing, Mural building, music production,
textile design, street Dance, physical theatre and African
and Caribbean dance, Rap workshops and
African and Caribbean History. We also visit exhibitions,
plays, attend talks, and travel to places of interest each
term.
Holiday projects are funded by Connexions and Haringey Youth
Service.
We are affiliated to the Federation of London Youth Groups,
Haringey Youth service and London Youth and Arts Network.
We take part in Partnership work
with many organisations, this allows us to broaden and develop
our provision providing new opportunities for environmental
education, performance, sport
opportunities and mentoring development. |
